Ok- so posting every day is definitely NOT realistic for me as I hoped it would be. SO - there's a chance it may happen twice a week. Once I get the hang of it, hopefully frequency of posting will increase.

And today's #tiptuesday is about improving Curb Appeal to sell your house.
I know there are some of you who are homeowners (like my husband and I) and there is a likelihood that you will at some point in your life, need to sell your home. Whether its because you need to upgrade, downsize, your job is moving locations, or you just need a total change, you will need to sell your home. So for this #tiptuesday, we'll be discussing some of the improvements you can do to the curb appeal of your home to get it ready to sell.
Have you ever looked at a house (in pictures or in real life) and been completely turned off before even walking into the house or seeing pictures of the interior? That happened to my mom and I when we were looking for a house in Colorado back in 2015. The house wasn't our style, but there was ZERO curb appeal! It was a drab to look at and totally uninviting, so much so that we told our REALTOR that we didn't even want to go inside. How sad for any homeowner who has potential buyers turning away just because of something so simple.
Here are a few simple ways to update your curb appeal of your house that will make it inviting and will bring buyers in by the droves.
1. Change the Hardware
Obviously this one is quite dramatic, but just replacing the lock set and the numbers will improve the front
entry way significantly. If you aren't planning on replacing the lock set, clean it up a little. It's all about aesthetic. Find the style that fits your home whether it's a brushed nickel, or an oiled bronze color.
2. Paint the Front Door
A fresh coat of paint in whatever color you like makes it look new. OR if you don't want to paint the front door, give it a good scrubbing with some good ol' soap and water to make it sparkle. OR get a nicely stained wood door. The front entry is the focal point of your home's curb appeal, so make it look welcoming. Add a flag, or a wreath or a sign to make it reflect your style and your home's interior.
3. Install Lighting
Add some lighting to your walkway. This doesn't have to be an expensive project. You can buy some relatively inexpensive solar lights at your local hardware store, on Amazon, or your local Walmart. You should also make sure you have lighting by the front door and if you are able to - make it a motion sensor. It makes approaching your house in the dark so much more inviting (and easier to find than stumbling around in the dark).
4. Paint Your House
If it is in your budget, a fresh coat of paint on the exterior of your house takes it to a whole new level! If you're able to keep up maintenance on the exterior of your home, it is the best way to ensure the best curb appeal when the time comes to sell. Be sure to also clean and paint trim and replace any rotten materials on the exterior of the house.
5. Build or Fix up the Walkway
If you have bricks or pavers for your walkway, make sure that they are flat. Our old house in California had tree roots that were bringing up the bricks that made our walkway very bumpy. We had to make sure we took out those bricks, chopped down those tree roots, and make it flat and not a tripping hazard. If you're able, use a pressure washer to clean up any moss or dirt that is built up on the walkway. If you have a concrete walkway, clean it up as best as you can. If it is cracked, patch up the cracks and fix up any trip hazards.
6. Add Flowers or Plants
If you're in an area where you can grow plants and flowers all year long then please take advantage of this to add a pop of color and fun to your front entrance. Unfortunately, not all of the US can do this all year long. During the winter months, grass turns brown and gets covered in snow and almost all of the plants die. If this is the case, do all of the other updates listed above and the lack of greenery or colors will not matter.
